HISTORY

A Brief History

Setraco was established in 1977 and started by constructing township and district roads in what was then Bendel State. Over the last thirty years the Company has rapidly grown to become one of the largest construction companies in Nigeria specialized in roads and bridges. With a presence today in around 20 states; Setraco has played a key role in developing Nigeria’s infrastructure as the Country strives towards becoming a developed nation.

Affiliations

Setraco Nigeria is a member of the Setraco International Holding group of companies. The Company is also technically partnered with a number of leading design and consulting firms across the globe which enables us to present our clients with cutting edge solutions for their needs.

2006

East West Road and Kano Maiduguri

Setraco is awarded a section in each of the two largest civil construction projects in the Nigeria. The speed and quality of work causes the Federal Ministry to single Setraco out from the other contractors on the projects as an exemplary company.
2004

Setraco moves to new Headquarters

Signaling its recent success, the Company moves into its new Head office at Shehu Yar’Adua Way located at the nation’s capital.
2001

Dualisation of Abuja Keffi Road

Setraco’s first US$ 100million project. The project catapults the Company into the league of top National construction companies.
1998

Design and Construction of Adiabo Bridge

Setraco’s first project to incorporate new management techniques which leads to the project being completed seven months ahead of the deadline.
1996

First World Bank Projects

Setraco is awarded the World Bank Financed Project for the Rehabilitation of 104 Kms of road network in Kano State and the Construction of 4 bridges in Kogi State.
1992

Re-Construction of Zungeru - Minna Road

The Company successfully secures the Contract for the re-construction of the 59Kms Zungeru – Minna Federal Road in Niger State.
1989

Construction of Itawure - Igede Road

The Federal Government awards Setraco the project for the construction of the Itawure - Igede road
1983

Setraco's first project in New Federal Capital Abuja

Federal Capital Development Authority awards the construction of Karu Township Roads followed by the award for Construction of Infrastructure and road network for a training center in Ozoro.
1980

First Federal Project

The Company is awarded the contract for rehabilitation and construction of the road linking Mokwa to Bida in Niger State (approximately 120km). The Works include the realignment, widening and asphalting of the existing Surface Dressing road and the construction of shoulders.
1977

Setraco Nig. Ltd Founded

Setraco Nigeria Limited is founded by two young entrepreneurs Said Khalaf and Inu Umoru. Founded with merely NGN 100,000, the Company starts by undertaking the rehabilitation of various roads in Bendel State before being awarded the contract for the construction of Phase 1 of the Afuze-Otuo-Uzebba Road.
